Writing the World
Cool it Schools, a global online climate change and environmental showcase, has just launched Writing the World, a new competition for young people. The theme celebrates the International Year of Biodiversity. The winning poems will be published on the Natural History Museum's web site and in the junior member's magazine Second Nature, also beautiful books on biodiversity will be presented by Dorling Kindersley and Silver Jungle. Cool it Schools is an education partner with the Natural History Museum. Enter an illustrated poem of up to 14 lines on the theme of changing environment. Age categories are 5-10,11-14,15-18. The judge is the poet Sue Hubbard.

Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2010
For poets aged 11-17 years old. Judges Jane Draycott & Luke Kennard. Fifteen overall winners aged 11-17, including up to three international winners, will have their poems printed in the winners' anthology. Fifteen 15-17 year old winners will attend a week-long residential course at one of the prestigious Arvon Centres. Five 11-14 year olds will win a short residency to their school by a leading poet.
